I gotta get a hobby

Sometimes the answer is a plain as day but we don't see it. As I mentioned in my last post, I'm bored. And boredom leads to eating. Not to mention eating goes so well with all those things you do when bored (watching TV, for example).

My boredom stems a lot from my job. A couple of years ago, I had a very high-pressure job that I loved but one that allowed me precious little time or energy for anything else. To alleviate the stress of that job, I changed to one that is often boring (but that comes with much less stress and allows much more personal time). (I wish I knew where the middle ground is.) In talking to a colleague yesterday, he asked if I'd picked up any new hobbies now that I'm in my current job and that part of my life has changed. Duh! To help combat my boredom, I need a new hobby. Or I need to volunteer.

I added my weekly goals to my sidebar and included this one this week in an effort to help combat boredom. Being busier and less bored will only help with all aspects of my life ... including my poor eating habits.

I just don't understand why I didn't think of this myself rather than merely whining about boredom. :)

PS - Thank you (!!) for the encouragement in my restarting this journey. It is most appreciated.

I'm really bad about eating when I'm bored. It's such an easy habit to start, and one that's really hard to break! I hope it gets better for you. :-)

Glad to see you back posting :)

I know exactly what you mean about boredom--I was there before I decided to go into teaching.

I can say that volunteering is so rewarding! Both sides get so much out of it and it is never boring.

Sooo good to see you Sherre, you know me always late to the party lol. I hope you can figure out a new hobby and also "re-habit" *smile*. I look forward to hearing all about it. Maybe I can pick up some of your new hobbies.

I'm working on the boredom thing, and I'm glad to see that someone else is dealing with it, too. There's safety in numbers. :)

Hi :o)
How about scrapbooking? I do digital scrapbooking [used to do the hands on stuff] and i LOVE it!
Or crocheting? Know anyone having a baby who'd like a blanket or two?
Or if you're on facebook, try scrabble. That's fun too, even if you aren't very good, because you get better!
The trick is to keep your hands busy :o)
Good luck!
