A mixed bag

Last week was a mixed bag relative to my goals. Due to bronchitis, I didn't get as much exercise in as I would have liked. But I have been consistent since the end of the week (when the coughing abated). And I stole an idea that I read about a while ago in blogland. Rather than meeting friends for a meal, I had two get-togethers with friends this weekend and we walked rather than ate. Visiting while walking is even more fun than visiting over a meal.

I logged my food more often than not, but still have a ways to go in this regard. I did discover (another blogland suggestion) the iPhone/iPod Touch LoseIt! application for logging food. I am still debating about rejoining Weight Watchers so this application is a great tool to use until I rejoin and start using eTools. I also ate veggies more often than my recent usual, but had a few times when they were sorely lacking. Most notably one evening when I was feeling lousy (the bronchitis) and Saturday (why oh why are weekends so difficult?).

During the Christmas break, I saw an easy peasy veggie recipe on TV that I've been using often (thank you Kelly Ripa). It's a great alternative to salads. Roasting butternut squash, brussels sprouts, cauliflower and walnuts (the walnuts are the key ingredient in my opinion). Just toss the above ingredients with olive oil and roast in the oven at 400 degrees until the veggies begin to brown.

I managed 64 ounces of water most days (again the weekend was my downfall). And, finally I made calls last week about volunteering at our local VA hospital and at a nearby wildlife refuge.

I want to repeat these goals again this week and plan that my exercise will be up to par now that I'm feeling better. I'm planning to sleep in my exercise clothes (a strategy that worked for me last year) so I can make it to the gym before work. And I plan to get back on my trainer's schedule.

I hope everyone had a good weekend!

I'm so glad you're feeling better!

I thought we had discussed my ban on internet use of b-r-u-s-s-e-l-s-p-r-o-u-t-s. No? Well, I'll let you off with a warning. Please never mention them again. Not without a warning. :) :)

Have a marvelous (and coughless!) week!

Glad you're feeling better! I *love* the idea of walking "dates" instead of dining out. :)

Sherre, sorry to be so long in commenting my computer at home isn't working right and I haven't had time at work to comment but I've been reading and it's so great to have you back. Sorry your bronchitis is acting up I go through that once or twice a year too, usually when it gets colder.

The roasted veggies sound good though I think I will pick different ones. I don't eat any raw veggies so it would be a great alternative, thanks.

So how was your week?

Sherre, I hope you are much better now. Bronchitis is a terrible thing to get over. I cracked a rib once with all the coughing.

The veggies with walnuts sounds so yummy!
